H1jack is available for free on both Apple Store and Google Play

After several months of radio silence, we’re finally happy to announce that H1jack is available for free on both Apple Store and Google Play. Despite the pandemic, development delays and fire fighting for other projects, we have finally managed to polish the game to the point that a public version can be released.

If you just want to play, don’t waste time!

H1jack, what?

If you’ve just landed on this blog post, this is for you. H1jack is a casual mobile auto-battler inspired by real cyber security events. Start from the very bottom and spend your money and fame in gaining new techniques and exploits. Heartbleed or Shellshock won’t be enough!

The trailer is probably better than many more words:

How did we get here?

During the fall of 2019, we embarked on a pretty ambitious goal despite the limited team and budget. At that time, CobbleGame was just getting started in the independent game development market and Doyensec was a booming security consulting company having zero experience on game design. Together, we decided to combine our expertise in the respective fields to design and develop a casual mobile game set in the cyber world. After many prototypes and changes of direction, we spent a good portion of 2020 to work on the core mechanics and graphics. Unfortunately, the limited budget forced us to downgrade the project to a side hustle – which further delayed beta testing and the final release. This aspect also affected the scope and size of the project, which ultimately made us decide to release the game as a free-to-play with no advertisement.

Despite all, we’re happy to announce the release of the game for Android and iOS. A Nintendo Switch version might even appear at some point in the future (no promise here!). We hope you’ll enjoy the game in between your commutes and lunch breaks!

In the meantime, CobbleGames is back fixing and porting games while Doyensec will keep focus on what they do best – *cyber* *cyber* information security!

Thanks,
Krzysztof, John and Luca
